2015 Acura ILX

Pros: Surprisingly hospitable rear seat; competitive pricing

Cons: Middling acceleration in with base engine; optional 2.4-liter engine is available only with manual transmission; technology features don’t feel cutting-edge compared to best in class; engine noise

CG Says: Acura’s entry-level compact sedan loses its hybrid model for 2015, but is otherwise unchanged. The ILX is positioned between regular compact cars and the majority of premium compacts. The base 2.0-liter engine’s acceleration is rather leisurely for the class; the optional 2.4 is stronger, but it’s available only with a manual transmission. Ride quality, handling, and interior appearance are pretty good, but this small Acura is largely unexceptional. Brand loyalists will find enough to like, but we would encourage ILX intenders to check out the superior Buick Verano.
