2023 Acura Integra

Pros: Engaging driving experience with optional manual transmission; hatchback flexibility and cargo room; competitive price and fuel mileage

Cons: Roofline reduces rear seat headroom; interior appointments and tech features lag behind premium-brand competitors; no all-wheel drive available

CG Says: The 2023 Acura Integra is a new car with an old name–one that dates back to the initial launch of the Acura brand. The Integra was replaced by the Acura RSX coupe for 2002, but the name is back for 2023 on a compact 4-door hatchback that replaces the ILX in Acura’s model lineup. Based on same platform as the Honda Civic, the Integra carries distinct bodywork and premium appointments; its standard engine is the 200-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder used by the sporty Honda Civic Si. The Integra is front-wheel drive, with a continuously variable transmission as standard equipment; a 6-speed manual is available at no extra cost with the top-end configuration.

The lineup consists of base, A-Spec, and A-Spec with Technology Package trims. All Integras come with a power moonroof, selectable drive modes, heated power front seats, 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, and LED headlights and taillights. The A-Spec is essentially an appearance package that adds blacked-out trim, a rear lip spoiler, and 18-inch wheels in place of the standard 17s. Both the base trim and the Integra A-Spec have faux leather upholstery and a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen. The A-Spec Technology Package adds a 9-inch screen and microsuede seat inserts, along with wireless smartphone integration and charging, built-in Amazon Alexa functionality, 16-speaker audio system, parking sensors, adjustable adaptive suspension, AcuraLink connected services, and the option of a 6-speed manual transmission. Standard safety features on all Integras include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control (not available with the manual transmission), and blind spot and rear cross traffic alert.

The 2023 Acura Integra walks a fine line between the mainstream and premium-brand compact-car segments. Some shoppers might not find the Integra a significant-enough upgrade over the Honda Civic Si to justify the higher cost. However, this entry-level Acura is notably cheaper than a loaded Volkswagen Golf GTI, or an Audi A3 or Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. Depending on where your priorities lie, it might be the ideal sporty premium-compact-car fit.
