CG Says: A manual transmission is no longer available for the Buick Regal. Otherwise, the 2017 Buick Regal is essentially unchanged. Regal is a premium midsize sedan that seats up to five passengers. The base engine is a 182-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder, but most models have a 259-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. A six-speed automatic is the sole transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available with the turbocharged engine. Available safety features include forward-collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot alert. Other available features include keyless access and starting, bi-xenon headlights, heated steering wheel, and adaptive cruise control. Regal is arguably the sportiest car to come from Buick in more than two decades. Its European-flavored driving experience might be off-putting to brand traditionalists, but it surely will appeal to those who might not otherwise have considered a Buick. The Regal GS model is an interesting take on the factory-tuned performance car. It delivers solid handling with little sacrifice to overall refinement.
