2016 Cadillac XTS

Pros: Availability of muscular twin-turbo V6; smooth, composed ride; regal interior trimmings for the price

Cons: Not all drivers like CUE touchscreen system; not as nimble as some class competitors; so-so acceleration with base V6

CG Says: The 2016 Cadillac XTS gets an updated infortainment control system that is said to be faster and easier to use. The operating system is now compatible with Apple CarPlay. Wireless cell-phone charging is standard and a surround-view camera is newly available. Also, the grilles have been revised. XTS occupies a slice of the rather wide price gap between “regular” large cars and premium-large cars and has surprisingly few direct competitors. We like that the XTS offers plenty of room, numerous safety features, near-opulent luxury, and decent driving dynamics, all at the lower end of the premium price point. There are plenty of high-tech features too, but some traditional customers might be turned of by the added complication they bring. Still, this is a car well worth considering if its many strengths meet your needs.
