2020 Dodge Journey

Pros: Bargain pricing; generous equipment levels; clever, family-friendly storage features

Cons: Weak acceleration; lack of high-tech and safety features; all-wheel drive not available

CG Says: The 2020 Dodge Journey trims its lineup with the elimination of GT models and the V6 engine. All Journeys are now front-wheel drive with a 4-cylinder engine. The 2020 Journey is not available in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington. Journey is a midsize crossover SUV with a standard third-row seat. The sole engine is a 172-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. (This is one of the last 4-speed automatics available as manufactures add more speeds to their transmissions for increased efficiency.) Journey might not have the overall space and refinement of some of its competitors, but Journey excels in other key areas. Among its strengths are outstanding cargo flexibility, available built-in child-booster seats, and a quiet cabin. Combine this with aggressive pricing, and Journey is a compelling package for families on a budget.
