2017 Infiniti QX60

Pros: Genuinely upscale trimmings and features; simple, easy-to-use controls; availability of Hybrid model; surprisingly good handling; impressive passenger and cargo versatility

Cons: Some desirable options are available only in expensive option packages; plus-size wheels take a toll on ride quality

CG Says: The 2017 Infiniti QX60 has more power. The QX60’s 3.5-liter V6 has 295 horsepower—an increase of 30 hp over last year. A hands-free liftgate and Wi-Fi are newly available features. QX60 is premium midsize crossover SUV that seats seven passengers. The QX60 is based on the Nissan Pathfinder. There is a choice of a conventional 295-hp 3.5-liter V6 or a hybrid that pairs a supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a combined 250 hp. Both powerplants are mated a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available. Available features include forward-collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning and mitigation, blind-spot alert, surround-view cameras, and adaptive cruise control. Urbane cabin appointments with simple (for the class anyway) controls, a serene driving experience, and availability of a Hybrid version are QX60 highlights. Less impressive is the QX’s handling and ride quality when equipped with the optional 20-inch wheels. Base prices are competitive, and though Infiniti requires the purchase of costly option packages in order to get some desired features, considering all the content, it’s not unreasonable.
