CG Says: Lexus enters the premium compact SUV market for 2015 with the all-new NX. This aggressively styled crossover is available in two versions: the NX 200t, which is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 235 horsepower, and the NX 300h, a hybrid with a 195-hp 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gas/electric powertrain. Both models are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive; the 300h’s AWD system uses a separate electric motor to drive the rear wheels when necessary. Offered exclusively on 200t models is an F Sport package that adds unique interior and exterior trim and a firmed-up sport suspension. Optional features include a navigation system, park-assist system, heated steering wheel, power-folding and reclining rear seats, power rear liftgate, wireless phone/device charger, sunroof, blind-spot monitor, and a pre-collision system with adaptive cruise control. The NX is a thoroughly impressive entry into a competitive, growing market segment. Its radical styling may be off-putting to some, but NX backs up its ostentatious looks with compelling powertrains, an athletic driving character, and a truly luxurious feel. Pricing is competitive as well.
