2014 Mazda MX-5 Miata

2014 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club

Pros: Pure sports-car personality; joyous fun to drive; lower-end models are reasonably affordable, reputation for reliability

Cons: Tight cockpit for large occupants; limited cargo space; basic design dates back to 2006 model year, best left in the garage if snow is in the forecast

CG Says: The Mazda MX-5 Miata is largely unchanged for 2014. Though it’s getting a bit long in the tooth, the Miata is still great fun to drive as well as being reasonably fuel-efficient. The available retractable hard top, though remarkably well engineered, is a very expensive addition to an already pricey car. Fortunately, most of the Miata’s top-notch driving characteristics are present and accounted for in the entry-level Sport model. That’s where we would steer buyers interested in this convertible.
