2014 Nissan Versa Note

Pros: Value pricing; dexterity in city commuting; fuel economy; cargo versatility of hatchback body style (Versa Note); rare-for-the-class features

Cons: Lots of noise; meager power at highway speeds; built-to-a-price cabin materials

CG Says: The 2014 Nissan Versa sedans get retuned steering and suspension, along with some minor equipment additions based on trim level. The lineup also gets a new-design 4-door hatchback model called Versa Note this year. Although the base S and mid-level S Plus versions of the Versa and Versa Note are rather “stripped” by today’s standards, the top-line SVs have all the expected features at a price that looks good even against smaller subcompact rivals. The Versa Note SV also offers some rare-for-the-class options such as Nissan’s nifty Around View 360-degree camera, along with popular connectivity features. Power can feel meager at higher speeds and interior materials don’t impress, but if interior room, cargo space, and high fuel economy are tops on your list, the Versa and Versa Note are must-sees.
