2016 Toyota Tacoma Limited Double Cab

Pros: Broad range of models and optional equipment; respectable acceleration in V6 models; sturdy build quality; nicely assembled, rugged interior with large, easy-to-use controls; excellent ground clearance for off-roading

Cons: Cramped, uncomfortable back seat in “Access Cab” extended-cab models; tall step-in height on 4WD models; bouncy ride with off-road suspension

CG Says:

Toyota’s compact pickup is redesigned for 2016, gaining new styling, a fortified version of the previous-generation model’s frame, and a new 3.5-liter V6 engine in addition to a carryover 2.7-liter 4-cylinder. New available features include Qi wireless-device charging, an easy-lower tailgate, touchscreen audio system, blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert. The 2016 Toyota Tacoma’s redesign is more a very heavy refresh than a clean-sheet-of-paper re-envisioning, but it still brings a number of worthwhile improvements and technology features that keep this truck competitive with the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon (both of which offer the choice of a diesel engine for 2016).
