2015 CC

2014 Volkswagen CC R-Line

Pros: Impressively upscale feel for the price; engaging driving dynamics; generous list of standard features and equipment, arguably stand-out styling and design

Cons: Stiffer-than-expected ride in R-Line models; limited rear-seat room, especially in center position; acceleration not as smooth as in most rivals

CG Says: The 2014 Volkswagen CC gains a new 2.0T Executive trim level; Sport and R-Line models get a rearview camera; and the line-topping V6 Executive model gets keyless access and starting, new 18-inch alloy wheels, and a nifty motion-activated trunk opener. Also newly available on CC is Volkswagen’s Car-Net communications system/smartphone app. The Volkswagen CC appeals for its strong and refined turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, impressive ride quality (R-Line excepted), solid handling, top-notch interior design, and standout looks. Good 4-cylinder fuel economy and pricing that undercuts most premium-midsize rivals are noteworthy added bonuses. If you’re willing to sacrifice some passenger-hauling versatility for the sake of style, the VW CC is a compelling option.
