2016 Volkswagen Eos

Pros: Nicely designed retractable hardtop has integrated power sunroof; ride is nicely balanced between zippy handling and comfort; reasonably affordable for a classy-feeling convertible

Cons: Cramped rear seat; limited trunk space, especially when the retractable hardtop is down; minor body quivering in top-down driving

CG Says: Last year was to be the final season for the Volkswagen Eos, but this VW convertible survives for the 2016 model year. Eos comes in a single Komfort trim level which will have a limited run at a reduced price. Though not the most exciting convertible around, the Eos does offer open-air fun and steel-top security in an affordable, practical package. A pleasant ride, fine handling, and a classy interior add to its appeal. The main downsides are a tight back seat, limited trunk space, and possible long-term durability issues with the complex top.
