Pros: Fabulous interior; brisk acceleration of Performance model
Cons: Controversial exterior styling; middling driving range; limited availability at launch
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]CG Says: The 2023 Genesis GV60 is the first pure-electric vehicle from Hyundai’s luxury brand. This compact crossover uses the same underpinnings as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 battery-electric vehicles, which were all-new for the 2022 model year. Both currently available versions of the GV60 employ a 77.4-kWh battery pack and standard all-wheel drive via front and rear electric motors. The Advanced model produces 314 horsepower and has an estimated driving range of 248 miles. The Performance model has 429 horsepower and a “boost” mode that can increase output to 483 horsepower for 10 seconds. Genesis says a DC fast charger can take the GV60 from 10 percent to 80 percent charge in 18 minutes, while a Level 2 charger will top it off in around 7 hours.
A panoramic sunroof and 20-inch wheels are standard. The stylish interior is nicely trimmed and full of high-tech features. Two 12.3-inch screens are joined together for the digital gauge display and infotainment interface. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration are standard, though not wireless. Front seats are heated and ventilated with leather surfaces. A Bang and Olufsen premium audio system is standard. The Performance model also gets massaging front seats, heated rear seats, and upgraded leather. Unusual features are face recognition and fingerprint reader to enter and operate the car and the “crystal sphere” on the center console that rotates around to expose the drive selector. With its Vehicle to Load on board charger, the GV60 can power or recharge electrical items, including another EV in an emergency. Standard safety and driver assistance features include automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. With respectable performance and high levels of refinement, the Genesis GV60 is an intriguing addition to the quickly growing EV market.

Cons: Some controls aren’t intuitive to operate; lack of stand-alone options[/vc_column_text][mk_divider style=”padding_space” margin_top=”10″ margin_bottom=”10″][vc_column_text]CG Says: The 2021 Volkswagen Passat drops its topline SEL model, and all models now have standard adaptive cruise control. Passat is VW’s midsize sedan. Its sole powertrain configuration is a 2.0-liter turbo paired with a 6-speeed automatic and front-wheel drive.
Forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and LED headlights are standard. Additional available features include lane-departure warning and mitigation, keyless entry and starting, remote engine start, and park assist.
The Volkswagen Passat offers excellent passenger and cargo room in a very practical and comfortable package. In a class filled with excellent choices, the Passat follows a bit of a different path—one that helps it stand out from the crowd.[/vc_column_text][mk_divider style=”padding_space” margin_top=”10″ margin_bottom=”10″][mk_content_box heading=”The Facts”][mk_table el_class=”new-review-specs”]
