Per one source, the Comuta-Car was the best-selling U.S.-market electric car after WW II until the Tesla Model S came along in 2012. While that may sound like a noteworthy accomplishment by the car’s maker, Commuter Cars, Inc, of Sebring, Florida, the Comuta-Car never actually sold especially well. It did sell well enough, though just hardly, to be remembered.

He called it the “power toad.” He was a guy I talked cars with at the health club, and he had just purchased a 2003 Nissan Murano, a vehicle he very much appreciated, but he had yet to come to terms with the design. Looking back, the first generation Murano doesn’t look all that controversial, but in the early years of the 21st century, Nissan’s 2-row midsize crossover was turning heads.

How a car was equipped could have a profound impact on its value come trade-in time. An Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with a V8 engine and air conditioning would have commanded much more money than a similar example with a V6 and no air.
