Pros: Addition of well-engineered diesel model and high-performance RS7; dazzling styling; high-quality interior materials and assembly, stand-out exterior design
Cons: Fastback 2014 A7 body style compromises rear visibility and entry/exit; some testers find Audi’s MMI controls overly complicated
CG Says: A7 is visually stunning, inside and out. It’s comfortable to sit in and provides a surprising amount of practicality given its “4-door coupe” body style. Lively and reasonably efficient powertrains—both gasoline- and diesel-fueled–further enhance this car’s appeal. Prices seem high, but the sticker price buys a lot of luxury car. Even when well equipped, A7 comes out much less expensive than comparably equipped rivals from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The real question is whether or not the A7’s stylish silhouette is worth several thousand dollars more than that of the mechanically similar A6 sedan–the latter of which also boasts more rear-seat headroom. We wouldn’t fault anyone for going with the A7.
