2016 Chevrolet Cruze

Pros: Rear-seat leg room; projected 40-mpg fuel economy

Cons: Still no sport model

CG Says: The Chevrolet Cruze is redesigned for 2016. The new Cruze is larger with more rear passenger room than the previous model—yet is up to 250 pounds lighter. The only engine is a turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder that develops 153 horsepower and has engine stop/start. The 1.8-liter engine has been dropped, while the turbodiesel is expected to return for the 2017 model year. Also expected for 2017 is a new 4-door hatchback bodystyle. Wireless cell-phone charging is a newly available feature. The first-generation Cruze continues as the 2016 Cruze Limited. It is unchanged except for the deletion of the diesel model.
