Pros: City-friendly minicar dimensions, maneuverability, connectivity/infotainment features
Cons: Limited cargo room, highway road noise, limited power for passing and merging
CG Says: The Chevrolet Spark is redesigned for 2016. Spark retains its petite 4-door hatchback layout, but is 1.6 inches lower and has a slightly longer wheelbase than the current-generation car. A new Ecotec 1.4-liter 4-cylinder with 98 horsepower is the sole engine, and is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. The EPA estimates the Spark will achieve 41 mpg in highway driving. Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Side Blind Spot Alert are newly available safety features. The redesigned Spark should be a solid competitor in its segment.
