Pros: Outstanding passenger and cargo versatility; excellent ride and handling balance; quiet cabin; class-exclusive third-row Stow ‘n Go seats; stylish looks
Cons: Not all Pacifica amenities and safety features are available for Voyager; some complicated touchscreen controls
CG Says: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles now has two minivans for the budget-conscious shopper. The Dodge Grand Caravan is of FCA’s previous-generation minivan design (see separate review) and new for 2020 is the Chrysler Voyager. Although the Voyager name is new to Chrysler, the Voyager minivan was previously the entry-level L and LX versions of the familiar Chrysler Pacifica. (Also, the Voyager badge once graced vans and minivans sold by Chrysler’s departed Plymouth division.) As rebadged Pacificas, Voyagers share a 287-horsepower 3.6-liter V6, 9-speed automatic transmission, and other mechanical features with their upmarket siblings. Voyager lacks Pacifica’s Stow ‘n Go stowable second-row seats, although Voyager has a Stow ‘n Go third-row seat. Blind-spot alert, rear cross-path detection, and rear parking sensors are available, but those desiring autonomous emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and other advanced safety features will need to move up to the Pacifica. The 2020 Chrysler Voyager appeals to budget shoppers and rewards them with good performance and fuel economy, along with fine ride and handling in a modestly equipped package. Those who want more amenities and safety features should shop Pacifica (see separate review), but Voyager owners will enjoy Pacifica styling and dynamics at a lower price.
