Pros: Exceptional quietness; cushy, coddling cabin; smooth, tranquil ride quality; refined hybrid model; decent back seat space
Cons: Doesn’t handle as crisply as most cars in the class; some drivers dislike Remote Touch system’s joystick control interface
CG Says: After a redesign for 2013, the 2014 Lexus ES 350 and ES 300h hybrid offer Siri Eyes Free Mode for Apple iPhone users, which enables various voice-command functions. The Lexus ES has always been about a serene ride and coddling comfort more than sports-sedan agility. The addition of the smooth ES 300h hybrid model and improved rear seat space for 2013 bolstered that reputation. Though the ES’s driving dynamics also grew more athletic in the 2013 redesign, most enthusiast drivers will be better served by the rear-drive Lexus GS, or most premium-midsize class competitors. Still, for buyers who place a high value on comfort, fuel economy, and the Lexus ownership experience, an ES 350 or ES 300h is an excellent choice.
