Pros: Availability of unique, high-performance RS 7; dazzling styling; high-quality interior materials and assembly
Cons: Fastback body style compromises rear visibility and entry/exit; some testers find Audi’s MMI controls overly complicated
2017 Audi A7
CG Says: The 2017 Audi A7 gains standard Bose Surround Sound, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interface. There is also a new 3.0T Competition model that includes a 340-horsepower engine (seven more horsepower than standard) and 20-inch wheels. The diesel engine is not available for 2017. The A7 is visually stunning, inside and out. It’s comfortable to sit in and provides a surprising amount of practicality given its “4-door coupe” body style. Lively and reasonably efficient powertrains further enhance this car’s appeal. The A7 line also includes V8-powered performance models: the 450-hp S7, 560-hp RS 7, and 605-hp RS 7 Performance. Prices seem high, but the sticker price buys a lot of luxury car. Even when well equipped, A7 comes out much less expensive than comparably equipped rivals from BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
