CG Says: After its redesign for 2014, the BMW X5 regains its high-performance M model for 2015. The X5 M gets a special adaptive sport suspension, beefy 21 inch wheels, unique trim features inside and out, and a 567-hp version of the XDrive50i’s turbocharged 4.4-liter V8. Also for 2015, The 8-speed transmission has been revised for better fuel economy and slightly better acceleration, according to BMW, and there has been a minor shuffling of standard features and optional equipment. The X5 delivers BMW’s characteristic polish and performance with SUV utility, though it is not as spacious inside or as cargo-versatile as many premium midsize-SUV competitors. Still, the X5’s acceleration, sporty handling, and availability of a frugal diesel engine are highlights. The revived X5 M boasts truly amazing high-performance capabilities for its amazingly high sticker price. Any model is quite pricey, but if you crave an SUV with an emphasis on “Sport”, this BMW might be the one for you.
