Pros: Surprisingly peppy base engine; world-class supercar performance of ZL1 and Z/28 models; decent ride quality for the class; well-engineered convertible models
Cons: Low-slung roofline means subpar headroom; small trunk opening; a bit larger and heavier than many sporty-car buyers prefer; Z/28’s high price and raw nature mean it is for hardcore enthusiasts only
CG Says: After receiving a facelift and a racetrack-ready Z/28 high-performance model for 2014, Chevrolet’s “pony car” sees no changes of note for 2015. Any Camaro is a fine performance car, and most of the variants should be reasonably easy to live with on a daily basis. We like the muscular engines, and the surprisingly good ride quality in the V6 models and the ZL1. There are the usual sporty-coupe compromises to be sure, but that’s to be expected. While no Camaro that we’ve driven–with the probable exception of the ZL1 and Z/28–trumps its main rivals, the car’s stare-at-me styling and overall refinement help make Camaro a strong player in its class.
