CG Says: The 2020 Porsche Cayenne adds a new “Coupe” bodystyle with a sloping rear roofline. There is also a new high-performance S E-Hybrid model powered by the Cayenne Turbo’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 combined with an electric motor for a total of 670 horsepower. Porsche claims the new hybrid can accelerate 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and reach 183 mph. Porsche’s midsize 5-passenger SUV was redesigned for 2019, gaining more powerful engines, new styling, and new technology features. The base engine is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 335 horsepower. The step-up engine is the S model’s 434-hp 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. The most powerful non-hybrid Cayenne is the Turbo with a 541-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. The E-Hybrid pairs a 3.0-liter turbo V6 with an electric motor for a total of 455 hp. All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is standard. Available features include air suspension, 4-wheel steering, tungsten-coated brake rotors, and matrix LED headlights. Available safety features include autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, night vision assist, and adaptive cruise control. The Porsche Cayenne combines the utility of an SUV with sporting driving experience expected of a Porsche. Prices are high and get higher still with the long list of optional equipment, but for many shoppers only a Porsche Cayenne will do.
