Pros: High level of refinement (particularly on upper-line models) and good driving dynamics; quality interior materials; good cabin ergonomics
Cons: The 4-wheel drive is an inconvenient part-time system; fuel economy may come up a bit short compared to some domestic rivals
CG Says: The TRD Pro model returns to the 2019 Toyota Tundra lineup. TRD Pro includes raised suspension with special Fox shocks, LED fog lights, unique wheels and interior trim. Tundra is a full size pickup available in extended cab and crew cab styles. There is no regular cab. Two engines are offered: a 310-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 and a 381-hp 5.7-liter V8. Both are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive and part-time 4-wheel drive are offered. Available features include forward collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot alert, rear cross-traffic alert, power-sliding rear window, trailer-sway control, and LED headlights. It might not have as many configuration options as its domestic-brand rivals, but what Tundra does offer should be more than enough for both commercial and recreational truck buyers. This big rig demands serious consideration, even from those who have remained loyal to one of the Detroit 3.
