CG Says: After a significant freshening for 2014, the 2015 E-Class lineup gets a new engine option for 2015: A twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 is available in the new-for-2015 E400 models (not to be confused with the existing E400 Hybrid), which are available in coupe, convertible, and sedan form. (In addition to the engines listed in the chart below, the E-Class lineup offers a 329-hp 3.0-liter V6 in the E400 Hybrid, a 402-hp 4.7-liter V8 in the E550, and 5.5-liter V8s with 550 or 577 hp in the E63 AMG models.) While not as overtly sporty in popular trim levels as midsize offerings from Audi or BMW, the E-Class is rewarding to drive, and rivals larger premium sedans for highway composure. Prices are high, and climb higher quickly as options are added, but few vehicles in any class can match the E-Class’s enviable blend of performance, mechanical refinement, and luxury appointments.
