CG Says: The Volvo XC60 loses its 3.2-liter engine for 2016, but is otherwise little changed. The powertrain lineup now consists of “Drive-E” 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engines (the T5 version is turbocharged and has 240 horsepower; the T6 version is both turbocharged and supercharged and has 302 hp), a 250-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter 5-cylinder (T5 AWD models), and a turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder (300 hp in the T6 AWD and 325 hp in the R-Design models). Refined and loaded to the brim with expected and innovative safety features, Volvo’s compact SUV is a good one. Its only significant flaws are an occasionally crunchy ride and somewhat steep pricing on T6 and R-Design models. On the whole, XC60’s balance of power, handling, and comfort make it worthy of serious consideration for those who desire something small yet upscale.
